Overview

A car-sharing platform is a web-based business providing services of peer-to-peer car rental. This business model allows renting a car from vehicle owners directly. Car sharing is a mere online venture and is more beneficial for all sides than traditional car rental services.

Traditional car rental companies usually offer economy or business class vehicles at fixed prices and on a daily basis. The choice of car models is typically poor and includes a few popular options and colors. The rental services also require warranties and strict compliance with their rules and conditions, limiting their customers greatly. Filling in the application form for a traditional car rental company may be a tedious and time-consuming process.

When car owners share their fleet on car-sharing platforms, they set their own rules. They may offer any car model for rent, even exclusive ones. The platform does not limit rates and conditions. Customers can negotiate the rules with the car owners, including hourly rates. Car owners earn money for the fleet while they do not use them. Customers rent cars they like for affordable prices and under suitable conditions. A web platform receives revenue for informational services provision.

A business from Russia wanted to launch a car-sharing service and needed to build a web platform for car rental activities. We became a software development and system integration partner that had delivered the car-sharing solution to meet the shared economy business model's needs.

Solution

To run a peer-to-peer car-sharing service, a business requires a web-based solution. Our team has developed a mobile-first website according to our client’s business flow. We have integrated with third-party vendors’ code to apply some user interface and user experience features. We have created an API for a car-sharing web platform to ensure the service functionality and implement the business flow to the fullest.

A web-based business relies on user experience greatly. So, we have done a lot of quality assurance procedures on multiple virtual testing environments to assure car-sharing platform functionality corresponds with users’ expectations. Integrations with third-party vendors’ solutions also required a thorough check of a car rental website features. We have tested any change and modification in a car-sharing platform’s code to ensure its flawless functioning. Only when we have guaranteed the quality of the implemented website functionality, we have transferred the integrated solution into hosted production.
